"Over the past five years, IIT Institute of Design has pursued design research and education for executives in the areas of new customer-centric financial models, base of the pyramid development, and design for policy and government with a number of organizations in Brazil, including ApexBrasil and ITAU Unibanco. IIT Institute of Design alumni holding leadership positions at organizations like Liberty Seguros, INSITUM, and Steelcase are making strides connecting design strategy and methodology to emerging needs within the Brazilian context.
With Rio native Carlos Teixeira joining our full-time faculty, we are extending our engagement in the region with exciting new programming including evening lectures, executive education, and the inclusion of São Paulo on our roster of cities representing global change for the Strategy World Tour.
Carlos, along with Dean Patrick Whitney and Director Corporate Relations Communications, Ashley Lukasik, will visit São Paulo and Rio March 14-18. There we will visit alumni and meet with business, design, and thought leaders to select content for the São Paulo Strategy Tour and plan executive education offerings. Insper business school will host a public event featuring Patrick Whitney and Luis Arnal, INSITUM founding partner and ID alumnus, discussing design during times of uncertainty. Carlos and Ashley will travel to Rio to meet with Izabel Barros (PhD 2002), who leads the Steelcase Applied Research and Consulting team in Latin America, and present at ESDI on design strategy and research education, where alumnus Luiz Saboya is Deputy Head.
