Cradle to Cradle Product Design Challenge – Call for Submissions
The Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute has launched its first-ever Product Design Challenge in partnership with Autodesk supporting the Design-Led Revolution.
Central to Cradle to Cradle® as a design framework is to eliminate the concept of waste—recognizing that all materials are valuable, finite, and when designed appropriately, can be used in infinite cycles. Effectively implementing this design principle can have a significant impact on the environment and the economy.
The goal of this design challenge is to eliminate the concept of “waste” by designing products with materials that may be perpetually cycled to retain their value as nutrients to fuel growing global economies. Entries may be submitted starting immediately, and must be received no later than March 15, 2015. Winners will be announced April 2015.
Deadline: Submission deadline is March 15, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. PST.
Submission Requirements: Submissions should be formatted following the outline made available online under Submission Requirements.
Judging Criteria: Entries will be evaluated on Design considerations that promote circularity; Anticipated next life of the materials; Identified path to reuse; Choice of materials (non-toxic and cyclable); Usefulness; and Beauty.
Award/Benefits: Prizes will be awarded in three categories: Best Student Project; Best Young-Professional Project; Best Use of Autodesk Fusion 360 Tool. The top selection in each category will receive a $2,000 prize. Finalists and winners will be featured in press releases, on the Institute’s website, promoted through social media, and on the websites and other communications channels of key partners including the Alcoa Foundation and Autodesk.
